Deep within the enchanting rolling fields, dwelt a young shepherd. His life was untarnished, and unsophisticated. His primary duty was to look after his flock of rams.
Their gentle baas and the murmuring of the gales through the solo tree on the mountaintop were his constant co-dwellers. Day after day, looking out for his responsibilities instilled in him a notion of calm satisfaction.
Yet, there were at times moments of isolation, when the shepherd boy would yearn for fellowship. In one such instance because of sheer tedium, the shepherd boy conceived a troublesome plan.
Tales of wild beasts hunting on sheep had been heard times and again in the town. So, the boy decided to exploit this fear and played a trick on the townsfolk.
One day he ran into the village shouting “Wolf! There is a wolf attacking my sheep!” The scared villagers rushed up the hills for rescue but found nothing threatening.

The tale of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the perils of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once violated, is hard to earn back. It's a story as pertinent today as it was in the past.
